APPOINTMENT PREPARATION

COME PREPARED → Your makeup appointment will take approximately
1.5-2 hours. Silence your phone if possible to help keep the appointment on schedule. Inform your MUA if you wear contact lenses or have lash extensions.
Have Your Vision Ready → Inspiration photos are always welcome! Save a few inspiration photos so we can create a look that’s perfect for you. Your safety is my top priority. All brushes, tools, and products are thoroughly sanitized between each client.
Hydrated Skin= Beautiful Makeup!
Prep your skin AHEAD of time → Drink plenty of water before your appointment & keep your skincare routine consistent. Avoid waxing, aggressive exfoliation, facials or chemical treatments 24-48 hours before your appointment to keep skin calm & makeup-ready.
Come Comfortably Dressed → A button-down shirt, robe, wide-neck, or something easy to change out of is recommended to protect your finished look.
Arrive with a fresh canvas → Please come with a clean, makeup-free face as this allows me to create a long-lasting finish. REMINDER: A $5 removal fee will be applied if makeup needs to be removed prior to your session.
Communication is KEY → Please share any allergies, sensitivities, skin concerns, or products you love before we begin so I can customize your look.
YOUR time and MY time matter → Clients are allowed a 10-minute grace period for late arrivals. After 10 minutes, a late fee will be applied to the appointment balance. Please arrive on time so we can enjoy the full experience without feeling rushed. Late arrivals may affect the final look or service time. Please check booking policies for more detailed information.
Enjoy the Experience! → This is your time to feel confident, beautiful, and celebrated!
Sit back, RELAX and let me take care of the details!
Ready to look and feel your best? Explore these essential skin-prep DO'S and DON'TS to help create a smooth, healthy-looking canvas for your makeup. ✨
STEP 1 — START WITH CLEAN SKINAlways begin with a clean face. Remove leftover makeup, excess oil, and buildup before applying your skincare.
DO: Use a gentle cleanser suited to your skin type.
DON'T: Scrub your skin aggressively right before makeup. Over-cleansing and irritation can leave the skin dry or sensitive.STEP 2 — MOISTURIZEMoisturizer is one of the most important parts of skin prep.Dry skin
Look for ingredients such as:
• Hyaluronic acid
• Glycerin
• Ceramides
• Squalane
• Shea butterA richer moisturizer can help create a smoother canvas when skin is dry or flaky.Oily skin
Don't skip moisturizer! Instead, choose a lightweight gel or oil-free moisturizer so your skin gets hydration without feeling heavy.Combination skin
Use a lightweight moisturizer all over and add a little extra hydration only where you need it.STEP 3 — DON'T FORGET SPFFor daytime makeup, sunscreen should be part of your skincare routine. SPF 30+ is a good general target. Give your skincare a little time to settle before moving on to primer and makeup.STEP 4 — CHOOSE THE RIGHT PRIMERThis is where your skin type really matters.DRY / DEHYDRATED SKIN
Your goal: Hydrate + smooth + glow
Look for:
• Hydrating primers
• Cream or gel textures
• Hyaluronic acid
• Glycerin
• Nourishing ingredients
• Radiant or satin finishes
💡 Tip: If your skin is extremely dry, don't rely on primer alone. Proper moisturizing underneath is important.OILY SKIN
Your goal: Control shine + blur pores + extend wear
Look for:
• Mattifying primers
• Pore-blurring formulas
• Lightweight textures
• Niacinamide
• Oil-absorbing ingredients such as silica💡 Tip: You don't necessarily need a thick layer of primer. Using too much can interfere with foundation. Makeup artists recommend applying primer lightly and allowing it to settle before makeup.COMBINATION SKIN
Your goal: Balance hydration + control shine
Combination skin doesn't always need the same primer everywhere.Try multi-priming:
T-zone: Mattifying/blurring primer
Cheeks: Hydrating or illuminating primer
This allows you to treat different areas according to what they actually need.NORMAL SKIN
You have a little more flexibility!
Choose based on the finish you want:Want glow? → Hydrating/illuminating primer
Want smoothness? → Blurring primer
Want longevity? → Gripping primer
Want matte? → Mattifying primerFor a versatile option, Rare Beauty Always an Optimist Pore Diffusing Primer offers hydration, pore diffusion, and shine control.LARGE PORES / TEXTURED SKIN
If your biggest concern is visible pores or texture, look for a blurring or smoothing primer.
Application tip: Press and smooth the primer over areas with visible pores rather than piling on a thick layer.MY GOLDEN RULE
Your skin comes FIRST. Your makeup comes SECOND.
The goal of skin prep isn't to completely change your skin—it's to hydrate, smooth, and prepare your natural canvas so your makeup can perform its best. And remember: Beautiful makeup starts with beautiful preparation. Take care of your skin, choose products that work for YOU, and let your natural beauty shine through.
BEAUTY TIPS
Simple tips, tricks & little secrets to help you look and feel your best.
Less Is More
Instead of applying a lot of product at once, start with a small amount and build coverage where you need it. This helps create a more natural, flawless finish.Blend, Blend, Blend!
Whether you're applying foundation, concealer, contour, or blush, take your time blending. Seamless makeup is all about soft transitions.Set Strategically
You don't always need powder everywhere. Apply it mainly where you tend to get oily or where you want your makeup to stay in place.Don't Forget Your Brows
Well-groomed brows can instantly frame your face. You don't need a dramatic brow—sometimes simply brushing them up and filling in sparse areas is enough.Use Cream + Powder Together
For blush or bronzer, layering a cream product underneath a powder can create more dimension and help your makeup last longer.ARII'S GOLDEN RULE
“There are no rules in beauty—only techniques to help you feel confident in your own skin.”Experiment. Have fun. Find what makes YOU feel beautiful.
